There are many ways to consume cannabis; you can vape, use a pipe, bong or joint – it’s really up to the personal preference of the consumer and what experience they’re after. However, what each of these methods of consumption has in common is the importance of grinding your flower. Grinding your bud allows your pipe/bong bowls to burn cleanly and evenly, for example; and without doing it, your accessories could become clogged over time, making use more difficult.
If you’re a regular cannabis consumer, you probably know the benefits of grinding prior to smoking. But, did you know that different consumption methods benefit from different fineness of grind? Depending on your preferred consumption method, different size bud lends different burn times and potency.
If you typically vape, you will want to use a grinder to facilitate the finest grind possible; having a very fine grind when vaping means a thicker, more potent vapor to inhale. A finer grind also allows for more terpenes and cannabinoids to be exposed to the hot air in your vape, allowing you to experience all the flavours and benefits of a particular strain.
If you are more inclined to roll a joint or pack a bowl, however, a larger grind is better. Larger-sized bud slows down the burning as you inhale, compared to a finer grind, where the flower will burn faster. A less-intense grind means you can fill a bowl or joint evenly, while getting good airflow.
Whatever way you choose to consume and grind your bud, the most important thing to remember is to make sure your bud it even in size. This allows for an even amount of airflow throughout the burning process making your session the best it can be.
